Caritas Sunday Celebrates in Caritas central office
Caritas Bangladesh (CB) central office celebrated the events of Teg O Sheha Abhijan (Lenten Campaign) 2024 and Caritas Sunday on March 10 with the theme “Response to the Call of Almighty, Stand by the distressed People”. The CB’s Executive Director Sebastian Rozario was present in the program as chair while Archbishop Bejoy N. D’Cruze, OMI of Dhaka was present as chief guest. Four Religious Leaders from four religions- Father Shipon Peter Reberio, assistant parish priest of Shulpur and professor of Holy Spirt Major Seminary; Maulana Majharul Islam, Khatib of Khwaja Amber Shah Mosque, Kawran Bazar; Sadhon Chandro Mondol, deputy-director of Agrani Bank and Secretary of Bangladesh Sonaton Mohajot; and Vanta Bhikkhu Sunandapriyo Mohathero, Secretary, Bangladesh Buddhist Federation and Vice-principal of International Buddha Bihar attended the event and delivered valuable speeches based on the theme. The speakers admired the educational initiative of CB that, besides collecting foreign donations, they also takes part to donate for humanitarian work for the needy. They also said that all religions encourage the donation, sacrifice, and well-being of humans.
The CB’s Director-Programs (Designate) Mr. Daud Jibon Das, Finance and Administration Director Remi Subash Das, Caritas Development Institute’s (CDI) Director Theophil Nokrek and staff members of Caritas central office and CDI were present in the program.
It is mentionable that Teg O Sbeha Abhijan is a unique project CB that has served as an initiative and the sole locally funded campaign of Caritas Bangladesh. Through this campaign, individuals are enlightened about the spiritual wealth inherent in every human being and encouraged to share their resources with those less fortunate. The funds collected during this campaign are utilized to support various needs of the needy and vulnerable individuals.
The celebration included universal prayer, presentation of a short video documentary and speeches. Participants were inspired to join the Lenten campaign 2024 of CB by contributing to the needy.
Furthermore, the event was made even more meaningful by recognizing 12 staff members (10 central & 2 CDI) for their long service ranging from 10 to 25 (10,15,20,25) years with Long Service Awards. Holy mass was offered in the third part of the program.
