Caritas Bangladesh participated tri-patriate meeting at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council
Caritas Bangladesh (CB) participated tri-patriate meeting arranged by PARTNER program on 21 July 2025 at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), the apex body of National Agricultural Research System. Meeting was aimed to review the progress of implementation of activities considering the MoU singed by CB and BWMRI. Meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Member Director, Planning and Evaluation Division, BARC. Also, key participants included Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, Agency Program Director, APCU-BARC, Partner & Principal Scientific Officer, Dr. Shah Md. Monir Hossain, Chief Scientific Officer and three distinguished scientists, two renowned Consultants from BARC participated in the meeting. From BWMRI, Dr Mahfuz Bazzaz, Director- BWMRI, Dr Enamul, SSO present in the meeting. From Caritas Bangladesh, Mr Apurbo Mrong, Director-Programs, Mr Subash Gomes, Manager-ECFS, Md. Nazmul Haque, PO-ECFS participated in the meeting and shared progress of research and demonstrations on Wheat, Maize interventions. BARC Officials appreciated the CB’s interventions implemented in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and Patuakhali and expressed strong interest in continued collaboration through BWMRI. BARC assured their full support in the areas of technology dissemination and transfer, and further emphasized for preparing future planning how three organizations work jointly. Key areas identified for collaboration includes on entreprenurship development, seed hub establishment and creating marketing channel for baby and sweet corn to reach the city area easily.
The Meeting was concluded with a positive outlook to strengthening institutional cooperation among BARC, BWMRI and CB to promote sustainable agriculture and food system in the marginalized regions.
