We Mourn (We, Caritas Bangladesh family, mourn the death of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG)

We, Caritas Bangladesh family, mourn the death of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG, the founder and chair emeritus of one of the world’s leading non-government development organisation BRAC.

In 1972 he founded what was then Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC), later changed into Brac, to support war-torn Bangladesh’s rebuilding efforts after the Liberation War of Bangladesh. He tirelessly fought poverty and inequality for last 47 years. He greatly contributed to the socio-economic development of the country. The NGOs in Bangladesh has also lost a great mentor, intellectual.

Caritas Bangladesh (CB) was fortunate to have his support & accompaniment during the reconstruction of Bangladesh after the glorious Liberation War. Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE), CORR-the Jute Works, a fair trade organization of CB was initiated jointly by the two visionary leader; i.e. Sir Fazle Hasan Abed and Rev. Fr. R. W. Timm, CSC, the then Director of CB.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his loving family and friends who have lost their dearest one. He may be gone but will be remembered always!!
