Caritas Bangladesh Celebrates Its Golden Jubilee
Caritas Bangladesh is celebrating its Golden Jubilee with the theme “Caritas Bangladesh: 50 years’ journey with love and service.” The Jubilee Inaugural Program held today, Thursday, 25 November 2021 at Hotel Shaikat, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Chattogram.
The program began with a colorful rally started at 8:00 AM from Saint Placid’s School and College premises and ended at Hotel Shaikat. The program included various events such as hoisting National and Caritas flags, releasing balloons and pigeons with festoon, tree plantation, launching of Photo Gallery, display of video documentary, cultural program and speeches from 9:00 AM till 1:00 PM.
Dr. Prakash Kanti Chowdhury, Additional Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram graced the program as Chief Guest. Most Rev. Bejoy N. D’Cruze, OMI, Archbishop of Dhaka Archdiocese and President of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Bangladesh, Most Rev. James Romen Boiragi, Bishop of Khulna Diocese and President of Caritas Bangladesh, Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario CSC, Archbishop Lawrence Subrata Howlader CSC, Archbishop of Chattogram Archdiocese, Most Rev. Gervas Rozario, Bishop of Rajshahi Diocese, Most Rev. Paul Ponen Kubi, csc, Bishop of Mymensingh Diocese, Most Rev. Sebastian Tudu, Bishop of Dinajpur Diocese, Most Rev. Shorot Francis Gomes, Bishop of Sylhet Diocese, Most Rev. Theotonius Gomes, csc, Bishop-emeritus, Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro CSC, Bishop of Agartala, Brother Lawrence Dais csc, founder member of CORD/Caritas, Dr. Benedict Alo D’Rozario, President of Caritas Asia and former Executive Director of Caritas Bangladesh, Members of Caritas General Body and Executive Board, Caritas Chattogram Regional Planning and Evaluation Committee (RPEC), representatives from different organizations, elite persons of Chattogram, Head of NGOs and Caritas Directors and Staff were present in the inaugural ceremony. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Caritas President Most Rev. James Romen Boiragi.
Sebastian Rozario, Executive Director of Caritas gave the welcome address while Chief Guest, Cardinal, Bishops, Caritas Asia President, Sadhuram Tripura Milton, development partner, Baby Rani Dey, RPEC Member, Peter Baroi past staff of Caritas, Noman Ullah Bahar, youth representative shared their testimony on Caritas works of love and service and spoke highlighting the past, present and future direction of Caritas Bangladesh.
James Gomes, Director Programs and Convener of the Jubilee Steering Committee, presented birth history of Caritas as well as the major achievements of last fifty years, Sukleash George Costa, Regional Director, Caritas Rajshahi and Secretary of Jubilee Steering Committee shared the major activities of next one year.
Starting from Chattogram the Jubilee will be celebrated in all working areas of Caritas all over the country during the next one year from November 2021 to October 2022.
